I’m a photographer from California who spent much of my life on the sidelines of art—working around artists but never fully embracing my own creative side. That changed three years ago when I found myself watching a flock of least sandpipers forage on a mudflat.

Since then, photography has become an obsession. Most of my waking hours are spent in the field, at my desk editing, or learning from others further along in their journey. I’ve worked hard to build a strong technical foundation—because I believe knowing your tools is essential to making meaningful art—and paired that with patience and (hopefully) a creative eye.

Photography is one of the most familiar art forms in the world, and that makes originality both difficult and inspiring. While nearly everyone can take a good photo, I rarely see great ones. I don’t think I’ve ever taken a great photograph, but I’m grateful every day for the chance to keep trying.

I hope you enjoy some of my images.
